Food

Is there allergen information?

All allergen, ingredient and nutritional content is provided both on the website product page and the product sleeve itself. Please note that all allergens are handled in our kitchen.

How long do I cook the meals for?

The cooking instructions for all meals can be found on the individual sleeves and the website product page.

Can you microwave the meals? 

Absolutely although some of the meals are better cooked in the oven. See the individual sleeves for the recommended cooking times.

Can I defrost your dishes first?

Although all our dishes are designed to be cooked straight from frozen for ultimate ease, you can defrost them first. Make sure you reduce the cooking times to reflect this!

How big are your portions?

Our portion sizes are similar to other meals you would find online or in a retailer. All the nutritional information can be found on our website and product sleeves.

How long can I keep your dishes in my freezer?

All our dishes have a best before of nine months from production, all dishes will have at least one month and typically at 6+ months. The best before is always displayed on the sleeve.

How do we know your food is safe? 

Our dishes have been tested by our micro biologist partner and cleared to be safe from all major bacteria families. We submit products to be tested every time we tweak a recipe or release a new dish.

 Delivery

Is there a minimum spend?

The minimum spend is subject to your delivery choice. 

For national delivery there is a £50 minimum spend.

For local delivery there is a £35 minimum spend.

For click and collect there is no minimum spend.

Is delivery free?

National delivery is available throughout England and free when you spend £50.

Local delivery for orders within 3 miles of our kitchen (SW18 4NJ) is free when you order over £35.

Alternatively click and collect from our kitchen (SW18 4NJ) with no minimum order.

Who delivers my order?

When ordering throughout England, orders are fulfilled by our trusted courier partner. All orders have tracking and you will be contacted to confirm your delivery day and a smaller window on the morning of delivery.

Local delivery is done by the By Word of Mouth team using refrigerated vehicles. You will receive an e-mail the day prior to your delivery with a 4 hour window.

Can I request a specific day and time for delivery?

At checkout please leave your desired delivery date in the comment box. We will adhere to deliver on this day if possible. Please note we only delivery Monday-Friday. 

Can I collect my order?

Absolutely just choice click and collect at checkout.

Does the food arrive frozen?

Yes, all our dishes are made in small batches and blast chilled to lock in the freshness.

What happens if I am not at home for the delivery?

You will receive notifications with your delivery window. For local delivery please get in touch asap to rearrange delivery (friese@bywordofmouth.co.uk). For national delivery your order will be delivered in a fully insulated box, which will keep your food frozen until you’re home. Your box can be left in a safe place or with a neighbour.

Recycling

Can I recycle the packaging?

Food Packaging: Absolutely, the sleeve is made from FSC certified card and alongside the tray (once washed) can be widely recycled. Unfortunately the film is not currently recyclable although we are working on this.

Outer Packaging: The box is FSC certified and can be recycled via your household recycling. The ice packs can be stored in your freezer and used to keep your picnics or drinks cool on the go.

The options to reuse your your wool liner are endless, provide insulation, make beds for your pets, stuff cushions or even reupholster a chair. Alternatively the wool is fully compostable so remove the plastic and place in your compost heap or general waste. The plastic can be recycled as per carrier bags, either in your domestic recycling or at a carrier bag recycling point.

For local deliveries or click & collect the carrier bag is 100% degradable and can be recycled either in your domestic recycling or at a carrier bag recycling point.
